2. Create Spinlets Widgets
There are two ways to create a Spinlets widget: Spinletizing and converting. Both of these methods are available by clicking the Create Spinlets tab. Learn more about creating Spinlets widgets.
Spinletizer
The Spinletizer enables you to take existing Flash, HTML, or JavaScript content or an existing Google Gadget and add a Spinlets widget wrapper to it. Just click on the Spinletizer in the Create Spinlets tab, choose your content type, and follow the onscreen instructions.
Converter
The Converter enables you to take an image, RSS feed, or Web page and convert it to a Spinlets widget. Click on the Converter in the Create Spinlets tab, select your content type, and follow the onscreen instructions.
Options
When you create a Spinlets widget, you have a number of options available that control the size and behavior of the widget. Each content type has its own set of options. Feel free to experiment with different types of content and use the various options available for each type.
When you create a Spinlets widget, it becomes registered on the SpinletsLab servers, which enables them to be tracked as they propagate across the Web.
3. Distribute Your Spinlets Widgets
So you have created a Spinlets widget…now what? Distribute it! On the "Congratulations" page, click the Distribute button. Learn more about distributing widgets.
You have many options for distribution:
Post it to your favorite social networking, blogging, or bookmarks site
Email it to a friend
Download it to your desktop as a Yahoo! Widget
Post it as a Facebook App (for Facebook Developer members)
Post it to Google Gadget Gallery or Live Gadget Gallery
On the Distribute tab, choose your distribution method and follow the onscreen instructions.
After you have posted (or seeded) it somewhere, visitors can spread it across the web by clicking on the Take It 2GO button that is attached to the widget (unless, of course, you chose not to include the button).
4. Manage Your Spinlets Widgets
SpinletsLab includes an intuitive interface for managing your Spinlets widgets. To open the management tool, click on the My Spinlets tab.
You can use the management tool to edit Spinlets widget settings, delete Spinlets widgets, distribute them to other sites, or analyze the metrics that SpinletsLab is logging for you. You can even assign tags to your Spinlets widgets so that you can easily filter your list of widgets.
5. Track and Analyze Your Spinlets Widgets
The powerful reporting features of SpinletsLab enable you to see how many people are viewing your Spinlets widgets, where they are being distributed, and more! From My Spinlets, just click on Report for any of your Spinlets widgets to see the data for that widget. Learn more about SpinletsLab reports.
To compare data for different widgets, use My Campaigns. Using this tool, you can assign multiple widgets to a campaign, and view data for the campaign overall, or compare the data for different Spinlets widgets.
6. Use the SpinletsLab APIs
Need more control over your Spinlets widgets? No problem—just use the SpinletsLab APIs. The SpinletsLab APIs give you the power to register Flash widgets programmatically, customize the Take It 2GO menu, track custom events in Flash widgets, and more. Three APIs are available for your use:
The In-Widget API enables custom tracking functionality for your Flash widgets.
The On-Page API enables you to add a customized Take It 2GO menu for your widget to any Web page.
The Platform API enables you to programmatically add a Flash widget to your SpinletsLab account, and to obtain the JavaScript code for placing your widget on a Web page.
