SpinletsLab gives you powerful tools for analyzing various metrics related to your Spinlets™ widgets. This document describes in detail the reports that you can view.

For most reports, you can specify the timeframe (known as the "selected period") to be reported on by selecting a start date and end date at the top of the report.



Most reports are divided into three sections:

• Graph: A line graph, showing the metric for each day of the selected period.
  
  
  
  
• Table: The top part of the table summarizes the metrics, and the bottom part breaks down the metrics by domain or platform. For large tables, the rows are shown on separate pages of the table; use the arrow buttons in the upper right corner to move to the next or previous page (or use the Go To field to go to a specific page). You can choose to show 10, 25, or 100 rows per table page.
  
  
  
  
  
• Chart: Includes a configurable chart showing the metric, broken down by domain or platform. Use the drop-down list to choose from various subsets or summaries of the data, and use the icons to choose from pie, vertical bar, or horizontal bar charts.
  
  
  
  

You can also export the data for a widget to a Microsoft Excel file. The data for each metric is in a separate worksheet in the Excel file. Click the Export button to export your data.

The Views report is a summary of all views of your widget. A "view" is defined as one loading of a widget on one Web page by one user. The graph shows the number of views for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total views for the selected period, and period views as a percentage of lifetime views
• Total views for the lifetime of the widget
• Average views per day for the selected period, and average period views per day as a percentage of average lifetime views per day
• Period views, lifetime views, and average period views per day broken down by domain

For the chart, you can choose to show period views, lifetime views, or average period views per day, broken down by domain, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Live Traffic report is a real-time report of the widget’s views and unique visitors, broken down by 3-hour periods. Using the links at the top of the table, you can limit the view to the last 12, last 24, or last 48 hours. A "unique visitor" is determined by the unique ID value of a persistent cookie that is placed on the viewer’s browser. The graph shows the number of views and unique visitors for each three-hour period. The table shows the following:

• Total views for the selected period, and period views as a percentage of lifetime views
• Average views per hour over the selected period, and this value as a percentage of views
• Total unique visitors for the selected period, and period visitors as a percentage of lifetime visitors
• Average period unique visitors per hour, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors per hour
• Number of views and unique visitors, broken down by three-hour period
  
  

The Clicks report shows how your visitors are interacting with your widget by measuring how many times your widget is being clicked on. The graph shows the number of views and clicks for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total views for the selected period, and period views as a percentage of lifetime views
• Total clicks for the selected period, and period clicks as a percentage of lifetime clicks
• Click rate (average clicks per view, expressed as a percentage) over the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime click rate
• Views, clicks, and click rate for the selected period, broken down by domain

For the chart, you can choose to show clicks, views, or click rate for the selected period, broken down by domain, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Time on Widget report shows the amount of time your visitors are interacting with your widget. "View time" is calculated from the time the widget is loaded on a page to the time the user navigates away from that page or closes the browser tab or window. "Interaction time" is calculated from the first time a user clicks on a widget to the last time the user clicks on it. The graph shows the average view time, in seconds, for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Average view time for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime average view time
• Average interaction time for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime average interaction time
• Average view time and average interaction time for the selected period, broken down by domain

For the chart, you can choose a domain to see the average view time for that domain for each day of the selected period in a vertical bar chart or horizontal bar chart.

The Clickthroughs report shows the number of clickthroughs for your widget. A "clickthrough" is defined as a URL that is opened from a link in your widget. Clickthoughs are logged only for Flash widgets that use the SpinletsLab In-Widget API to log clickthroughs. The graph shows the number of clickthroughs for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total views for the selected period, and period views as a percentage of lifetime views
• Total number of clickthroughs for the selected period, and period clickthroughs as a percentage of lifetime clickthoughs
• Clickthrough rate (clickthroughs as a percentage of views) for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime clickthrough rate
• Number of views and clickthroughs and the clickthrough rate for the selected period, broken down by target URL

For the chart, you can choose to see views, clickthroughs, or clickthrough rate for the selected period, broken down by target URL, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Custom Events report shows the number of custom events logged for your widget. A "custom event" is an event in a Flash widget that you define in the Flash code using the SpinletsLab In-Widget API. The graph shows the number of events for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total number of events for the selected period, and period events as a percentage of lifetime events
• Total lifetime events
• Number of period events and lifetime events, broken down by event name

For the chart, you can choose to see the number of period events or lifetime events, broken down by event name, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Active Placements report shows the number of active placements that have been logged for your widget. An "active placement" is defined as a placement that has been viewed at least once during the selected period or during the widget’s lifetime. The graph shows the number of active placements for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total number of active placements for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime active placements
• Total number of lifetime active placements
• Average number of active placements per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of average lifetime active placements per day
• Period active placements, lifetime active placements, average period active placements per day, and average lifetime active placements per day, broken down by target domain

For the chart, you can choose to see period active placements, lifetime active placements, average period active placements per day, or average lifetime active placements per day, broken down by target domain, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The New Placements report shows the number of new placements that have been logged for your widget. A "new placement" is defined as a placement with a new placement ID, whether it has been viewed or not. The graph shows the number of new placements for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total number of new placements for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime new placements
• Total number of lifetime new placements
• Average number of new placements per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of average lifetime new placements per day
• Period new placements, lifetime new placements, average period new placements per day, and average lifetime new placements per day, broken down by target domain

For the chart, you can choose to see period new placements, lifetime new placements, average period new placements per day, or average lifetime new placements per day, broken down by target domain, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Viral Hubs report is similar to the New Placements report, except that it focuses on source domain (where your widget is being distributed from) rather than target domain. The graph shows the number of new placements for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total number of new placements for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime new placements
• Total number of lifetime new placements
• Average number of new placements per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of average lifetime new placements per day
• Period new placements, lifetime new placements, average period new placements per day, and average lifetime new placements per day, broken down by source domain

For the chart, you can choose to see period new placements, lifetime new placements, average period new placements per day, or average lifetime new placements per day, broken down by source domain, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Unique Visitors report shows the number of unique visitors who viewed your widget on a Web site. (Unique visitors for desktop installations are logged and reported separately.) The graph shows the number of unique visitors for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors
• Number of lifetime unique visitors
• Average number of unique visitors per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime average unique visitors per day
• Period unique visitors, lifetime unique visitors, and period average unique visitors per day, broken down by domain

For the chart, you can choose to see the unique visitors for the period, lifetime, or average per day for the period, broken down by domain, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Geographic Locations report shows where your visitors are located. The map shows the countries or territories where visitors to your widget are located. The table shows the following:

• Number of views for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime views
• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime unique visitors
• Number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by country or territory

For the chart, you can choose to see the number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by country or territory, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Operating Systems report shows the operating systems that your visitors are using. The table shows the following:

• Number of views for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime views
• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors
• Number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by operating system

For the chart, you can choose to see the number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by operating system, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Browsers report shows the browsers that your visitors are using. The table shows the following:

• Number of views for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime views
• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors
• Number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by browser

For the chart, you can choose to see the number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by browser, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Operating System & Browsers report shows the combinations of operating systems and browsers that your visitors are using. The table shows the following:

• Number of views for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime views
• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors
• Number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by operating system-browser combination

For the chart, you can choose to see the number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by operating system-browser combination, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Language report shows the languages that your visitors speak, as determined by the visitors’ browser settings. The table shows the following:

• Number of views for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime views
• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors
• Number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by language

For the chart, you can choose to see the number of period views, number of period views as a percentage of lifetime views, number of unique visitors, and number of unique visitors as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors, broken down by language, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Loads report shows the number of times your desktop-installed widgets are loaded (that is, started up in their widget platforms). The graph shows the number of loads for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Number of loads for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime loads
• Number of lifetime loads
• Average number of loads per day for the period, and this value as a percentage of the average number of loads per day for the lifetime of the widget
• Number of period loads, lifetime loads, and period average loads per day, broken down by platform (for example, the Yahoo! Widgets platform)

For the chart, you can choose to see period loads, lifetime loads, or period average loads per day, broken down by platform, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The New Installs report shows the number of new desktop installations that have been logged for your widget. A "new install" is defined as a desktop installation, whether it has been viewed or not. The graph shows the number of new installations for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total number of new installations for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime new installations
• Total number of lifetime new installations
• Average number of new installations per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of average lifetime new installations per day
• Period new placements, lifetime new placements, average period new installations per day, and average lifetime new installations per day, broken down by platform

For the chart, you can choose to see period new installations, lifetime new installations, average period new installations per day, or average lifetime new installations per day, broken down by platform, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Active Installs report shows the number of active desktop installations that have been logged for your widget. An "active installation" is defined as a desktop installation that has been viewed at least once during the selected period or during the widget’s lifetime. The graph shows the number of active installations for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Total number of active installations for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime active installations
• Total number of lifetime active installations
• Average number of active installations per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of average lifetime active installations per day
• Period active installations, lifetime active installations, average period active installations per day, and average lifetime active installations per day, broken down by platform

For the chart, you can choose to see period active installations, lifetime active installations, average period active installations per day, or average lifetime active installations per day, broken down by platform, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.

The Unique Visitors report shows the number of unique visitors who viewed your widget on a desktop platform. (Unique visitors for Web site placements are logged and reported separately.) The graph shows the number of unique visitors for each day of the selected period. The table shows the following:

• Number of unique visitors for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of lifetime unique visitors
• Number of lifetime unique visitors
• Average number of unique visitors per day for the selected period, and this value as a percentage of the lifetime average unique visitors per day
• Period unique visitors, lifetime unique visitors, and period average unique visitors per day, broken down by platform

For the chart, you can choose to see the unique visitors for the period, lifetime, or average per day for the period, broken down by platform, in a pie chart, vertical bar chart, or horizontal bar chart.
